Dec. 16, 1965 - Tanzania Breaks with Britain: Tanzanian broke off diplomatic relations with Britain last night, on the eve of British premier Harold Wilson's speech to the Union Nations General Assembly in New York. President Julius Nyerere of Tanzania said in Dar-El-Sallam that message he had received from Mr. Wilson about Britain's policy on Rhodesia was as accordance with the Organisation of African Unity's ultimatum to Mr. Wilson calling for tougher measures against Rhodesia.
