Dec. 16, 1965 - Tanzania breaks with Britain: Tanzania broke off diplomatic relations with Britain last night, on the eve of British premier Harold Wilson's speech to the United Nations General Assembly in New York. President Julius Nyerere of Tanzania said in a Dar Es-Salaam that a message he had received from Mr. Wilson about Britain's policy on Rhodesia was as always ambiguous'.
