Feb. 29 The Queen Mother to visit Lundy Island: First ever visit to the lonely island The Queen Mother is to visit Lundy Island in the Bristol Channel on Sunday May 11. She will put down from the Royal yacht Britannia if the weather conditions are suitable for anchorage and for disembarking on the only landing beach. She will be the first member of the Royal Family ever to visit the romantic and lonely island and with one shop, one tavern, a weather stations and Miss Barbara Whitaker, the warden of the Usland Field Society. The Queen Mother will be returning from her trip to Ireland. This is one of a series of pictures showing what the Queen Mother can expect to see on her visit. The Queen Mother will see Lundy church The church of St. Helen on Lundy Island. It comes under the Diocese of Appledore on the mainland. The vicar comes once a month to conduct a service, weather permitting
