City of London men demonstrate for union recognition

Sep. 09, 1969 - Men In Bowlers March With A Grievance. A demonstration by bowler-hatted City of London workers drew a large crowd outside the Royal Exchange at lunchtime. They were members of the Union of Insurance Staffs, and were protesting about the refusal of the Guardian Royal Exchange Assurance Group to grant it recognition. The City gents all work for the group. Photo Shows: Bowler-hatted insurance men forming an immaculate protest line outside the Royal Exchange
