Jun. 06, 1976 - 100 People Killed And More Than 1, 000 Injured In South Africa's Worst Outbreak Of Civil Unrest : The Wrest outbreak of civil unrest in South Africa has claimed the lives of 100 people, and more than 1, 000 have been injured in rioting at Soweto, the African township outside Johannesburg. The rioting began during a March by black students against the use of African's in lessons. Police opened fine and cars and buildings were set on fire.
