Claudine Van Der Stratten, climber lost in Himalayas
Oct. 10, 1959 - Women climbers killed in Cho Oyu expedition: Two women mountaineers, Mme Claude Kogan, 40, of France, and Mlle Claudine van der Stratten, of Belgium, have died in a blizzard in the Himalayas, the Nepalese Foreign Office announced today. Madame Kogan, who was leading the all women expedition to the Himalayas and Mlle van der Straten, died at an altitude of 23, 000 on the Cho Oyu peak, near Mount Everest.
