Feb. 26 Children of War in Former Yugoslavia: The UNICEF-led November 1-7 Week of Tranquility campaign in the republic of former Yugoslavia reached more than 200, 000 children with high protein biscuits, clothing, blankets and medicines. Agreed to by all warring factions and supported by UNHCR and other relief agencies, the week achieved a lull in the fighting and was the first phase in a programme to reach a million children with essential winter supplies by the end of the month. UNICEF also support an immunization campaign in all warring areas, as well as projects for the more than 1.4 million children now traumatized by the ongoing conflict.Wounded by a granade, nine-year0old Senada, may need to have her leg amputated. Accompanied by her mother in Kosovo Hospital in Saravejo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, she is one of 14 children to be evacuated to France or Germany in a joint Medecins du Monde/UNICEF efforts
