Coastguard memorial for Battery Park, New York, USA

Mar. 27 WORLD WAR II MEMORIAL TO BE DEDICATED MAY 30. The US Coast Guard today announced that a memorial honoring the men and women who served their country in the Coast Guards during World War II will be dedicated on May 30, at Battery Park, New York City. The memorial which is shown here in process of being polished at the Coast Guard's supply depot in Brooklyn, is cast in bronze and mounted on a base of Maine granite. It symbolises the humanitarian side of the Coast Guard's mission. Noting that final details of the forthcoming dedication ceremonies are now being worked out, the Coast Guard also pointed out that the monument has been made possible by the efforts and financial contributions of thousands of men and women in the service
