Feb. 29 The babies sit with their mothers during the dress-making class. Miss H.A.Fricker, the Instructress goes round offering help and advice, while the Principal of the College, MR. G.H.Tweddell has popped in to see how things are going. MOTHERS TAKE THEIR BABIES TO DRESSMAKING CLASSES: When the young mothers of Dover told Mr. G.H.Tweddell, head of Dover Technical College that they could not attend the afternoon dressmaking classes because they could get nobody to look after their children he said bring the children with you'. This bold experiment has proved entirely satisfactory and now there are no shortage of recruits at the classes. Dover is the first college in the county to adopt the novel idea and now others may follow suit. At the moment the pupils include 16 mothers with children whose ages range from two months to four years. The classes are not as quiet as they used to be, but the noise doesn't worry the mothers, in fact they like it because it makes for a homelier atmosphere. Mr. Tweddell says if there are many more recruits he will arrange additional classes for them on other afternoons next term
