Nov. 11, 1961 - Boys from Eton See How the Other Half Lives'.. Seven scholars from Eton College - recently paid a visit to Barony Colliery, Auchinleck, Ayrshire.. They all tried their hands at hewing coal in the mine - and crawling through the pits.. They all came up with a piece of coal - backed their own hands from the pit face.. The See how the other half lives visit was organised by Mr. Emrys Hughes, M.P. for S. Ayrshire.. the lads were entertained later by the local population - at a dance.
