Feb. 11, 1964 - More And More Scientists Join The Brain Drain': Every day more and more of Britain's top scientists are joining what is becoming known as the brain drain across the Atlantic, being tempted by much more financially rewarding pots that are being offered in America. British scientists are finding it impossible to pursue their research work under the makeshift conditions existing in the majority of British universities and hospitals. Professor Ian Bush of Birmingham University has caused one of the largest still by deciding to go to America with his entire research team of nine to carry on their work on mental health. Professor Bush says that although the medical research council have been very generous, the University cannot afford even to provide proper premises, or basic necessities such as typewriters for them, and they are finding it a constant worry.
