Nov. 30, 1971 - Professor Werner Heisenberg Celebrates 70th Birthday: Prof. Dr. Werner Heisenberg (picture) will be 70 on December 5th 1971, The son of the renowned scholar of Bysantine and Greek culture, art and language, August Heisenberg, Prof. Heisenburg established together with M. Born and P. Jordan the quantum theory. He became well known for his work on nuclear physics and his recognition of protons and neutrons in 1932 for which he was awarded the Nobel Prise in the same year. The scientist was born in Wurzburg and taught in Leipzig from 1927 to 1941 and was then appointed Director of the emperor Wilholm Institute of Physics in Berlin. From 1946 to 1955 prof. Heisenberg was Director of the Max Planck -institute of physics in Cottingen. He won lives and work in Munich and is Vice-chairman of the Max- Planck Society and president of the Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation. At the end of 1970 he relinquished the directorship of the max- Planck Institute but of course he remains a scientific member of the Society
