Oct. 10, 1970 - October 7th, 1970 The trendiest Schoolgirls in the country These schoolgirls can claim to be the trendiest in the country. For the smart trouser suits they are wearing are their new school uniforms. The girls of the fifth form at Eden Comprehensive School, Rickerby, Carlisle, were asked to choose their own uniform. At first they considered a pinafore dress. Then 16 year old Margaret MacGillivray, facing her classmate in the picture, spotted the very dress in a fashion magazine complete with the flared trousers. The other girl loved it and senior mistress Mrs. Mabel Pattinson approved. In the summer the girls put the trousers away and just wear the dresses. The Headmaster Mr. Joe Rawlins said I think they look wonderful
