Sep. 03, 1971 - Every 100, 000 research microscope built by the firm Ernst Leitz in West Germany, is since 1899 donated to scientists working in the field of light microscopical research, and who has contributed to the biological and medical science. The year the microscope has been given to the scientist, professor Bengt Falck, Lund, Sweden. Professor Falck was elected after thorougly in vestigations by scientific circles around the world and was awarded microscope nr. 800.000. The award has previously been given to famous scientists like Robert Koch, Paul Ehrlich, Martin Heidenhain, Ludwig Aschoff, Paul Domagk and in modern time to Paul Weiss, Wolfgang Bargmann and hans Selye.
