Jan. 01, 1964 - Panama President Suspends Relations with U.S. After Bitter Riots'.: It was announced today that President Roberto Chiari of Panama had suspended relations with the United States'. This follows a night of bitter riots in which seven people - including an American were reported killed. Panamian hospital authorities said that 65 people were being treated for injuries. American troops are now on guard along the border of the U.S. controlled Panama Canal Zone.
