Commander Daphne Skillern, 49, the highest ranking policewoman in Britain, has taken over the A3 department at Scotland Yard which includes the Porn Squad'. Her appointment is one of a series of changes affecting senior Yard officers announced yesterday. Miss Skillern who joined the police in 1949 and became a commander in 1974, said that a few years ago the appointment of a woman as head of the Obscene Publications Squad might have shocked the police and the public who would have regarded the post as unladylike'.
