Jan. 01, 1961 - Pirate Seized Ship Sighted 100 Miles Off Trinidad: A Swedish vessel is reported to have sighted the 20, 000 ton Portuguese owned cruise liner Santa Maria - 100 similes East of Trinidad. The vessel carrying 600 passengers was grabbed in the Caribbean yesterday in a machine gun and hand grenade battle by a band of men led by 65 year Old Captain Henrique Calvo - prominent opponent. The British Frigate H.M.S. Rothesay - flagship of Commodore Shand of Fareham, Heats - and commanded by Commander J. Milller leads the chase for the Santa Maria'.
