Jul. 28, 1953 - Greece's most sensational post-war trial commences. Spy-ring Broken-up: What promises to be the most sensational post war trial- hasted in Greece- the trial of Nikolas Ploumbidis head of the Greek communist underground organization, who was arrested in Athens a new months ago - during the round up a spy-network- with the assistance of a helicopter of the US Navy Sixth Fleet which was visiting Greece at the time- and -pin-pointed the location of a Communist transmitter. Soon after his arrest - he was disowned by Greek communist party leaders in exile who broadcast from Moscow- stating that he was a stool-pigeon on the payroll of the Monaco-Fascist Greek Police.
