Jan. 09 Couple injured in Escape from over the Iron Curtain the Soviet shows mercy.: Laszlo Morathy a 25 year old University Student and his wife Erzsebet escaped across the frontier near Oberbildlein in Burgenland, Austria's most eastern province, from Hungary - but as they were crossing the frontier Laszlo trod on a mine and his foot was torn to splinters. Mrs. Norathy was injured by mine splinters. The district's Soviet. Komandatura - much to the surprise of everybody showed mercy - and permitted the couple to be transported to Graz (Styria) in the British Zone for treatment - after it was announced that the man would probably not survive his injuries - unless properly treated. Laszlo Morathy was staying in Austria previously - and only went back to Hungary to get his wife across the border when the disaster happened.
