Oct. 10, 1961 - West-Berlin youth honours murdered refugees. On this place at the Spree river in West-Berlin where two refugees from East-Berlin was murdered by volleys of machine-guns of the Volkspolizei as they were swimming to the West-Berlin side. West-Berlin youth has established a memorial monument for them. The youth collected money for a wreath and a wooden cross which will be established in this afternoon. On the wooden poster is written: From the Kz-guards hurried to death
