Apr. 21, 1967 - French Debate Provokes Duel: A Gaullist Deputy, Rene Ribiere yesterday challenged the socialist Mayor Gaston Defferre to a Duel for calling him Idiot'? The incident took place during a story debate at the National Assembly yesterday afternoon. The duel (with swords as a weapon) was fought at a sceret place at Neuilly in the western suburbs of Paris early this morning. Rene Ribiere was slightly wounded.
