Computer in the control room: The new £300, 000 radio telescope the Mark II which has a 125 ft diameter dish which gives a greater range than the Mark I which has a 250 ft dish, and which has been in use since 1957. In yesterday's demonstration, signals were picked up from the constellation Cassiopeia. The new telescope at Jodrell Bank cost £300, 000 to build.
