1953 - Opening of the British Industries Pair. The Station camera and control unit. Photo shows Mr. F.Rodwell, a TV engineer, seen demonstrating the Station Camera and Control Unit at the B.I.F. Olympia today. The equipment is designed to provide remote observation of industrial processes which may be inaccessible to the human eye. It can be used with a normal light microscope or with a microscope employing phase contrast illumination. It may also be employed when close scrutiny would be injurious to a human observer. Such conditions glare and fumes from a furnace. Two main units only are required the camera, which is located close to the subject, and the control and monitor unit, on which the observer views the image at a suitable remote point
