Built at Jodrell Bank, Cheshire for Manchester University at a cost of about £650, 000 - it consists of a gigantic copper mh bow1 weighing of the moving parts is 2, 000 tons - and height to the top of the bowl is 21ft. and maximum insight of the bowl - when tipped - is 300 ft. Funds for construction were supplied by the Department of Scientific Research and the Nufflied Foundation. The diameter of the bowl is 250 ft. and height of the aerial masts is 32 1/2 ft.
