Feb. 26 The Japanese are invading the European markets miniature camera - sales at £4: Mr. William Orme Sales chief of a Manchester firm is amazed at the fine quality of Japanese made good which have been offered to his firm for sale in this country. One of the items is a cigarette lighter similar in operation - and quality - to the famous Ronson and a miniature camera. The lighter were offered by the Henja Lion Company of Osaka, Japan - at 17/6d. per dozen at the British port - which means that the lighter can be sold at about 4/- each - inclusive of duty - purchase tax importer and retailer costs and profits. A similar British lighter would cost 38/6d. The Japanese lighter is decorated with nudes Mr. Orme says that he has been using one of the lighter for six months - and it is still a first timer The camera - comparable with British and German miniatures in the £20 - £30 region - costs £4.
