Dec. 12, 1959 - Safety Machine for Motorists: A safety machine for motorists, which indicates to drivers if they have had too many drinks, has been installed in a London public house. To find out if one is capable of driving home safely, you put 3d into a slot, and a bell rings seconds later. As the 3d piece drops you press a button to stop it. The ringing of the bell indicates the moment you must stop your car. If you reaction is fast, you receive your money back. Th slower the reaction the lower the coin drops. Photo shows the new machine seen being operated in a London public house today
