Mar. 22 Hearing Aid A volume control handset being developed by Bell Telephone Laboratories for public phone locations is demonstrated by Peggy Ballard of the Indianapolis Laboratory. A switch in the handle can be used by customers with impaired hearing to amplify sound coming from the receiver. Persons with normal hearing can use the phone at either normal volume, or amplified for noisy boot locations
