Mar. 22 Japan Builds Big Oil Rig For U.S.A.: A huge machine-room off shore oil drilling in U.S.A. is located from Sasebo Heavy Industries shipyard in Japan to begin a long tow to the Pacific Coast of the United States on completion for Transworld Drilling Company. The three legs which will support the machine-room above water follow aboard a freighter, the legs will be self-elevation jack-up type, raising or lowering the big-machine room when required for drling purposes. The length of the floating drilling rig is 120m.(400ft). width 17.7m (58ft), depth 7.0m (23ft). The supporting legs are 45m long, and spaced 82.5 m from each other at four points of support.
