Mar. 22 Morse Sends First Telegram: Samuel F. Morse, inventor of the first practical telegraph, is shows sending the first public telegram on May 24, 1844. The message, What Hath God Wrought! was send from the Supreme Court Chamber in the Capitol at Washington over a 40-mile wire to Baltimore. The telegraph was the first practical use made of electricity. It also led to the later development of the telephone, radio, television, and the whole marvelous electronic era of today, including satellite communications
