Apr. 17 1800 mirrors to fuel town of 10, 000: Scientists in America, are currently working on a plan to erect 1800 mirrors. The mirrors will be computer controlled so as to focus the sun's rays on a central boiler mounted on a 300-ft. tower. Designed by the McDonnell Douglas company for the Energy Research and Development Administration, the giant solar centre is to be built in Barstow, California. When fully operational, the complex will be rated as a 10 megawatt plant supplying enough electricity to supply a town of 10, 000 people. Seen here is how the centre will appear when completed in 1980
