1962 - Camera to shoot Missiles and space crafts: This 60 millimetre Ballistic Camera, largest instruments of its type in the world, was developed by Northrop Corporation for the US Air Force. Six of the giant cameras will be installed at the Atlantic Missile Range to photograph the flight paths of missiles and space vehicles launched from Cape Canaveral. The new camera has an f/2 lens that weighs 240 pounds. A unique louvre-type shutter that operates much like a Venetian blind opens and closes in two milliseconds. Weight of the camera is 1660 pounds
