Jun. 06, 1966 - Finger-Tip Telephone Directory. Western Electric May Rose Ivie can find telephone numbers quickly. They show up in the directory window by her index finger whenever she rotates the wheel by her thumb. She still must dial the numbers because the directory is not an electrical part of the phone. Numbers and names, such as the doctor and police, are pencilled on a roll of plastic tape that fits under a removable race plate. They can easily be erased for changes. The built-in directory was developed for western Electric's Touch-Tone desk and wall sets, and is being tested by selected Bell System customers this summer
