Mar. 03, 1970 - Pacific Rower will tape his LOG.: Lance Corporal Arthur Hornyby, 26, of the Special Air Servic, will use a Bush Tp 60 Cassette tape recorder to record his daily log, when he sets out to row across the Pacific next month. The voyage, in his 20ft boat Helmsman, is expected to take between 100 and 120 days. Lance Corporal Arthur Hornyby was presented with the Cassette recorder today by Mr. David Scott, Marketing Director of Rank Bush Murphy Limited and Mr. Dabid Lyon, the Company's General Marketing Director, who are both former members of the S.A.S. Regiment. They presented a similar recorder to Mrs. Carol Hornby of 246 Upper Ledbury Road, Hereford, so that she can record messaged for her husband to play during his lonely pacific crossing. The Helsman is now in Yokohama. Lance Corporal Arthur Hornyby will leave Nemuro, Japan, on April 21st row to Vancouver Island.
