Feb. 02, 1972 - TWO MAJOR NEW INSTRUMENTS INTRODUCED: As technology advances at a pace never before known, the analyst, whether in industry or research, requires to have at his side increasingly sophisticated instrumentation that is not only reliable but easy to operate. To match this need Pye Unicam Ltd of Cambridge have introduced two major new spectrophotometers, the most advanced of their kind manufactured in Europe. Known as the Unicam SP1900 and SP1950 Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometers they have excellent analytical precision, low limits of detection and high sensitivities combined with a genuine ease of operation. The atomic absorption technique has established itself as a fast, simple and highly sensitive specific method for the determination of metals. These two instruments set high standards of analytical performance for the whole range of metals capable of measurement by atomic absorption. The very low detection limits for such elements as lead, mercury, cadmium, zinc, etc make the instrument a valuable tool in pollution studies and pollution control. River water samples can often be analysed without prior chemical treatment, thus allowing a very high rate of sample processing.
