1971 - It's Hello Again To China: History was made yesterday with the first telephone call to pass between Britain and China since the Chinese cut off the direct phone link 22 years ago. Telephone operator Pamela Gee pushed in a plug London's international telephone exchange, and Mr. Peter Glanfield, the inter-continental exchange superintendent reopened the link with the words: Good evening, Shanghai'.
