Sep. 09, 1971 - XIII. International Congress of The Land-Surveyors In Wiesbaden (West-Germany) From 1. Till 10. 9. 1971 Because of the 56. German geodesy-day.... the German Association of Surveying (DVW), which is the oldest German scientific union celebrates its 100. anniversary. The international occupation-association, the Federation Internationale de Geometres (Fig) hold its 13. Congress therefore in Germany for the first time. At the same time the exhibition Geo 71 takes place. While more than 100 producers show their newest development on the surveying-sector in the Rhein-Main-Halle. an exhibition in the City-Museum of Wiesbaden shows the development of the history of surveying; besides maps, there are historic precise instruments like this Theodolite (photo) by Alexander Fraser which was made in 1798. To compare is a modern unit build in 1971 in the foreground, which has been constructed on the same principle. About 500 guests from 60 countries will take part in the exhibition. 300 referates are planned in the program. Protector of the congress is the West-German President Dr. G. Heinemann
