Sep. 05, 1973 - Laser 73, Munich, September 4-7, 1973 Exhibition for Opt-electric systems, their application in industry and science: Intensive cooperation between industry and science made this exhibition on Laser techniques-the first one in the world-poosible. 164 companies form 11 different countries-most of them come from the USA-are presenting their latest products to the layment and experts as well. 550 scientists are attending and exchanging their scientific and technical know-how and inform themselves on the latest development in this field. Among other devices, there's also the oldest one on display, with which the first Laser beam was produced by the American Mr. Theodore H. Maiman in 1960. Its construction was made possible by using the tehoretical research work of the Russian physicist Alexander Prokhorov, who received for this work, together with another Russian, Scientist Nicolai Bassow, the Nobel prize in 1964. For the future it seems that Laswe will find multiple application in many fields, for instance data processing and optical computing techniques.
