1974 - Prototype Of The Sun-Sonde Helios To America: Within the scope of the greatest co-operative outer space project between the Federal Republic of Germany and the USA, the prototype of the sun-sonde Helios was sent to the United States (our picture shows the loading on the Munich airport Riem). The Helios serves the exploration of the perihelion space and the correlation of the earth and the sun. She rotates the sun on an accentric orbit twice a year and approaches the sun a third of the distance earth-sun; till now no space capsule was so near to the sun. After the last sun-simulationtests in the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena (USA) the sonde is taken off by the American carrier rocket Titan-Centauer from Cape Canaveral on October 16, 1974
