May 05, 1972 - LUGGAGE INSPECTION SYSTEM -- A System that uses a low-dose, short-pulse X-ray to detect illegal guns, explosives and other concealed contraband in airport luggage, briefcases and parcels has been developed by The Bendix Corporation's Aerospace Systems Division in Ann Arbor, Mich. The portable radiographic Bendix-Ray Inspection System is operated by one person who can be trained in its use within a few minutes. An example of baggage contents that can be seen on the system's video monitor is shown at the upper left
