1977 - Royal Greenwich Observatory Exhibition Herstmonceux Castle Sussex opened by Patrick Moore: The Royal Greenwich Observatory, Herstomnceux Castle, Sussex was opened today as a permanent exhibition on astronomy. The ceremony was performed by Mr Partick Moore, the famous astronomer who is well known for his television Programme The Sky at Night'. The exhibition the first of its kind ever mounted at the Observatory, is being housed in a part of the castle and members of the public will still be able to visit the castle. It will display the history of the observatory and Castle, something about future developments. Picture Shows: Professor F.
