Cornell MacNeil, opera singer, en route to San Francisco

1962 - TWA's jet service to San Francisco started coincidentally just in time to transport operatic Baritone Cornell MacNeil. Who has been singing in California with the Cosmopolitan Opera, for an unexpected Metropolitan Opera debut last night replacing Robert Merrill who is ill, and is seen here today prior to boarding TWA's JetLiner back again to San Francisco. The Cliffside park, N.J. sensation made a triumphant debut at La Scala on March 5 and has been following such a tight schedule that in his two brief stops through New York he hasn't had time to see his five children. The 34-year old former factory worker sang in the title role of Verdi's Rigoletto at the Met last night
