Coronation fashions on show, London
Feb. 02, 1953 - Two Week Show of Coronation Fashions: London's fashion designers are already hard at work on models to be shown at this year's Fashion For tonight which, opening on May 27, will run through Coronation Week to June 10. Behind closed doors, overseas buyers will examine autumn styles in new tweeds, jerseys, saxonies and fine woollens, the latest thin satin taffetas, laces and silks which were prepared especially for Coronation year. What they see will not appear in the World's stores until September is well advanced. Photo shows two fashions for next autumn. Left: a fine grey worsted dress by Matita has a tucked blue linen bib to match the haze blue and tufted grey striped zebra blanket coat. It is made formal by the careful angling of the stripes. Right: Three-piece suit by Rensor. The three-quarter full swing coat is in pastel mixture fine tweed. Deep armholes give a comfortable fit over the matching slim-skirted suit
