May 16, 1953 - Coronation Road Gets Ready For The Coronation. Sheila Leads The Procession. Coronation Road, Plaistow, in London's East End, was chosen by a company of decoration manufacturers for special decoration in preparation for the Coronation. The Mayor of West Ham, Alderman A C Moorey, and the Coronation Road Committee this morning received the decorations from the donor Mr Leon Goodman, bringing the glamour of the West End to the East End. Keystone Photo Shows: Sheila Gray aged 2 leads a procession of children carrying the decorations to their homes at the distribution today. Sheila is wearing a Union Jack
