Crew of U-Boat Hai (Shark) boarding for manoeuvres

Sep. 09, 1966 - Submarine sinks in the North Sea: A German submarine was reported today to have sunk in the North Sea yesterday evening. The report came from a British trawler which said she had picked up a survivor. The trawler, St Martin, from Lowestoft also reported four more men in the water. The trawler identified the submarine Der Hai (Shark). The Shark carried a crew of 15. She was built in 1945 and sank in the Baltic at the end of the Second World War. She was raised in 1956 and recommissioned in October 1957, after being rebuilt at Kiel. Photo shows the crew of the U-Boat Hai (Shark), going aboard in readiness for manoeuvres in 1958
