Dec. 12, 1952 - New York Cops In Gun Battle. Seven Including By-Stander Injured. Two men, Charles Mason and Richard Linquist got into a fight outside a bar at 675 Eighth dt up and a moment later Clarence Sims, a Cleveland dsperado and Cecil Johnson drove up with the intention McAuliffe arrived and hearing that Sims was armed - backed him against the wall. The arrival of two more patroman Knox and conlon, diverted McAuliffe's with three slugs. The thugs fled in a heil of lead and wild gun battle ensued. It end a with Johnson cowed in surrender and Sims lying in a pool of blood, shot by Patrolman Cornelius O'Shea.
