Aug. 08, 1953 - Youth Tells The Court I Was Surrounded Six Accused At Bow Street: The case continued at Bow Street today in which six youths are accused of murdering 17 year old John Ernest Beckley of Amelia Street, Walworth, who died after being stabbed on Clapham Common on July 2nd. Among those giving evidence on Clapham Common on July 2nd. Among those giving evidence today was Brian William Carter of Tooley Street, Bermondsey, who told the courtthat he was with Beckley and two more youths John Francis Ryan and Matthew Frederick Chandler when about ten other youths surrounded them.
