Oct. 10, 1953 - A Gi-bride from Munich had been murdered in America. The 21 old Johanna Smith, born Brand, from Munich-Thalkirchen married the Us soldier Richard Smith on June 14th 1952 and followed him to the United States. It didn't last a long time and the first troubles between the young married couple began. Richard was very jealoous, beat his wife and let she have an intolerable life. On October 2nd Johanna Smith wrote to her mother that Richard commits an assault upon her again and again amd that she now appealed for divorce. when her mother got the letter her daughter had been already dead. she was found shot in front of the entrance of the PX at Camp Carson near colorado Springs. Her 23 years old husband had been taken prisoner at once because it is suggested with great probability that he will be the murder. When the reporter come to Mrs.Brand to interview her the poor woman didn't suspect anything of the death of her daughter. The last news had worked more quickly. Dispaired she showed the last letter of October 2nd 1933 of her daugher to our fografter. she told that Richard was an autocar-varnisher in civil-life and that the was proper man. It might be that his jelousness drove him to that dead. Photo shows Johanne and Richard smith at their day of wedding. Mother Brand learns of the death of her child and keeps the letter which Johanna wrote last in her hands
