Oct. 10, 1953 - Bus Driver Baulks Smash-and-Grab Bandits. Clearing the Wrecked Window: Smash and Grab bandits, made a raid on the London Bullion Company premises in Hay market today jumped into their car and started to make off - but were stopped and forced on to the pavement by a bus driver who swerved his vehicle. They crashed into a concrete standard. Employees of the Gaumont Cinema opposite dashed across the road and held the bandits until the police arrived. Photo shows clearing up the broken glass in the shop window is Mr. William Wilson - 66 year old Jewellers Assistant who rushed after the bandits when the window was smashed
