May 05, 1954 - Advises West's Civil Defense:Sir John Hodsoll, Britain's leading civil defense expert, has been made Chief Technical Adviser to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's Civil Defense Committee. In 1935 Sir John, now 60, was put in charge of Britain's first air raid alert system, and three years later was made Inspector-General of Britain's Civil Defense organization. His last (started in 1948) job was as Director-General of Civil Defense training at the British home Office, in which connection he has visited Canada four times to promote civil defense cooperation among the United States, Canada and Britain.
