Sep. 09, 1954 - Crash Bandits Grab 6, 000 Gold Bars, Raid took only twenty seconds: Gold bullion valued at 6, 000 was stolen last night in a twenty second raid. the gold was being loaded on to a K.L.M Lorry at Jockey Field, Holborn, for transportation to London Airport on way to Amsterdam. The raiders blocked one end of the narrow roadway with a stolen car and then backed as stolen van up to the transport truck - snatched two wooden wired cases each containing four bars of gold - threw them and C.I. D officers were soon on the spot examining the stolen car for finger prints etc. Photo shows Detectives check for fingerprints on the stolen car that blocked the roadway. The whole raid took only 20 seconds
